Omar Kaakati – EBT

Omar Kaakati - EBT #1

Describe yourself and your project. How did you get the idea?

My name is Omar and I’m a senior medical student. During my spare time I love working out and to play soccer. EBT is all about educating the health enthusiast through social media. Debunking myths and spreading knowledge based on current evidence. We were basically fed up with all the broscience and myths, and that was our inspiration to create EBT.

Who are you? Previous education/jobs/ experiences etc.

23 years old senior medical student. Previously studied at ProCivitas Gymnasium in Helsingborg, where I had the chance to work with my own UF-company. I’ve had experience from working at several well established companies, such as DHL, Finax, Höganäs AB, and as a salesman for a mobile company.

What will you do during these three months? How will you spend the time?

Further develop the EBT concept, designing our own website and creating our own evidence based workout and meal plans for future customers. Start working on publishing a book. Networking and self-development.

What do you expect to achieve during Leapfrogs?

Complete the new EBT concept and have customers that are satisfied with their lifetime investment in their own wellbeing.

Tell us what you have done on your project so far during the Leapfrogs time.

I have reached out to several bloggers and proposed a future collaboration.  I’m already working on a great collaboration with another huge Instagram page that I know my followers will love. I’ve also been working on the upcoming website, which will be a blog and  a forum for our clients buying our future EBT product (meal plan), which hopefully will be finalized this summer.  I’ve also been looking for sponsors, created a snapchat (ebtoffical) and summarized a survey 200 followers filled out!

Has everything gone according to the plan? Has anything unexpected occurred? Has something been easier/harder than expected?

I’m a bit disappointed by the few responses I have received from the bloggers. I’ve focused on bloggers related to training/health in general and my email has been personalized. I guess I need to do something different to stand out from the rest. Getting the channel to grow faster and engaging more people to the channel has been harder than expected, but I’m trying different methods, and I’m sure it will pay off.

What will you focus on during the remaining time? Will you follow your original plan or has anything changed along the way?

It’s important to adapt and always keep a plan B, C & D. My plan is now to keep the page growing, finalizing the webpage and creating more great content for our followers. My main focus during the rest of the summer is to do at least 2-3 major collaborations, get our first paying customers (we already have a list of interested people) to try out the EBT meal plan and to find new channels for growth (snapchat), making EBT more personal.

How did you experience the three months?

Quick! Time went by fast, a lot happened and EBT experienced a lot of positive changes. We started creating different types of content that our followers appreciated, we applied to a book publisher and sold our first meal plans!

What has been hardest/most enjoyable?

Most enjoyable was the ability to be able to focus and work on my project without any other interruptions from school or work.

Did it go as expected? Will you continue working on your project in the future?

Of Course! EBT will keep growing and developing. It went better than expected, a lot of new ideas were born during this summer that will lay the foundation for the future EBT.

What would you say is the most important lesson learnt while working on your project?

Consistency – waking up and creating a routine. Have it all planned out. Master consistency, focus on what you’re doing and cut out all noise in your surroundings.

Do you have any tips to other ”new” entrepreneurs?

Believe in your idea and make something out of it. The only thing stopping you is yourself. Set a goal, work for it, and you will achieve it!
