Describe yourself and your project. How did you get the idea?
When I first saw softwares that were used in dentistry I felt they lacked in usability and modern design. With the advances in web technology, there are more and more softwares that are web-based and opportunities to create great web applications. From writing a bachelor thesis in orthodontics, I got inspired to create this web-based diagnostic tool in orthodontics called Cephal.io.
Who are you? Previous education/jobs/ experiences etc.
I’m a dental student studying at Malmö university. Previously, I’ve been interested in programming and starting a company. Moving to Malmö, I got inspired by the start-up scene and incubators in Malmö and Lund.
What will you do during these three months? How will you spend the time?
I will spend my first 6 weeks in an accelerator in Malmö held by Drivhuset and the rest of the weeks working by myself. I will mainly focus on completing the web application and looking into the regulation on medical devices.
What do you expect to achieve during Leapfrogs?
I expect at the end of the summer to launch the web application as a service that is intended as an educational, scientific, and reference tool. I also wish to have contacts, great discussions and insights in developing a product and a company.

Tell us what you have done on your project so far during the Leapfrogs time.
During the six weeks, progress has been made in development of the web application and market research. The application has been migrated to a new framework and in the cloud, with greater focus on speed and security as well as functionality. Right now, I am looking into the regulation around medical devices. So far, it has also been a great learning experience in business development.
Has everything gone according to the plan? Has anything unexpected occurred? Has something been easier/harder than expected?
Everything has gone according to my plan. Development of the application hasn’t been difficult and has worked well but the time put into development has been underestimated because I had to rethink the performance of the application and interaction. Focus has been put on details during the development process. Because of regulation regarding security and personal information, I have research pre-existing solutions that I want to integrate with the software.
What will you focus on during the remaining time? Will you follow your original plan or has anything changed along the way?
During the remaining time, I will focus on getting in contact with a notified body for CE marking to make the application conform and working on improving the features in the application. I need financing for the project so I will consider that. I am going to work on the landing page and SEO and maybe the application will be launched as a mobile application.
