Nestor Campos - IUNGO

Nestor Campos - IUNGO

Describe yourself and your project. How did you get the idea?

As designer I like to think everything from the beginning, the way we use objects and the relation between tradition and new technologies.

Iungo was a toy created as alternative to all the toys full with plastic and electronics, a toy that brings honest materials, aesthetics values to kids, challenge them to use the imagination.

Who are you? Previous education/jobs/ experiences etc.

I am a Spanish architect/designer born in Andalusia. I studied Architecture in Granada, then I worked as architect in Germany for 5 years. After that I moved to Sweden where I finished my Master of arts in Industrial Design. Since 2014 working with my own studio.

What will you do during these three months? How will you spend the time?

Create a the brand for Iungo, website, graphics. Find a producer and first prototypes. Research about licenses for toys, possible markets, and design fairs to show it.

What do you expect to achieve during Leapfrogs?

To have a reachable business plan and a brand identity.

A first mini production, website, and some retail design shops as first market.

This is my personal website, but I am aiming to create one only for the toy.

Tell us what you have done on your project so far during the Leapfrogs time.

Till now has been a lot of planning, and now there a more clear view of what could be need it put a product on the market.  I am in  the process of contacting companies interested in produce the toy pieces, and packaging.  Also beginning the process of  safety and quality  testing for  toys in European union.

Has everything gone according to the plan? Has anything unexpected occurred? Has something been easier/harder than expected?

Everything is according to the plan, but slower that expected. I was thinking of having the brand identity defined by now and a website, but is still on going.  Finding companies to manufacture the pieces has been easier than expected, but getting a final product is getting more complex that I thought.

What will you focus on during the remaining time? Will you follow your original plan or has anything changed along the way?

First I was thinking of having a perfect product before to launch it, but  now I will focus on getting a product that I can deliver and see how the costumers reacts.  Also I’ll focus on design markets as long as I have a upright product.

How did you experience the three months?

It was  a lot of computer work, mailing and looking for suppliers on internet, but a the same time I´ve  learnt lot about how to begin the journey to make a business

What has been hardest/most enjoyable?

It has been very hard working alone on a project where I am taking steps for the first time but at the same time very rewarding to see that step by step you begin to move forward.

Did it go as expected? Will you continue working on your project in the future?

It was more easy than expected to find the suppliers but there is  still a lot of job to do to make the project fly, so I´ll keep on pushing

What would you say is the most important lesson learnt while working on your project?

A good product is important but to manage all the  variables that affect the business is where the trick is.

Do you have any tips to other ”new” entrepreneurs?

At the end , the things that we regrets are the things that we never tried!
