Hugo Tedroff - BetProphet #1

Describe yourself and your project. How did you get the idea?

I’m an active person who has always been interested in sports. At early age I practiced tons of sports and later on I’ve become more of a spectator. I’ve been betting on sports with friends to get extra excitement while watching. Living in a world where we compare everything: loans, prices, subscriptions, me and some friends discussed why we did not compare the sports betting market. And so the idea of BetProphet was born.

Who are you? Previous education/jobs/ experiences etc.

I’m 22 years old and originally come from Stockholm. I study Industrial Engineering and Management at LTH. I’ve previously worked at a company that compare loans and improve peoples’ loan situation. I worked with sales, team leadership and business development.

What will you do during these three months? How will you spend the time?

We will work to create an alfa-version of the platform. Our primary goal is to have it online by the end of this period. This means a lot of research to know how we should offer differentiated value with our platform, and of course a lot of programming.

What do you expect to achieve during Leapfrogs?

We expect to have the platform online by late August. If it is online sooner than that we expect to have at least one customer. Having a functioning platform that will be able to generate visitors and customers will motivate us further to continue the project during fall.

Tell us what you have done on your project so far during the Leapfrogs time.

We have done a lot of product development. This has meant programming the platform as well as creating and deciding the content. Furthermore, we have done a lot of market research, analysis and some product testing to try to find out that we are making a differentiated and value creating product. We have also established contact with our clients and set up almost every business contract.

Has everything gone according to the plan? Has anything unexpected occurred? Has something been easier/harder than expected?

Definitely not. We change our work and plan almost every day. In the bigger picture though, we are almost advancing according to plan. It is low level, such as product development, were we change every day. One of the things that has been most difficult is to picture how visitors will interpret our platform. Every time we product test new points of views on the platform are brought forward, most of them we would never have imagined!

What will you focus on during the remaining time? Will you follow your original plan or has anything changed along the way?

Our original plan was to try to hit the market with a product that is superior to our competitors. However, in the process of developing our product we have come to sense that we should focus on creating a product that someone really wants. Rather than just focusing on beating our competitors. Therefore, as a part of our go to market strategy, we are going to do a lot of product testing to look for a proof of concept from potential users.
