Describe yourself and your project. How did you get the idea?

I am, in collaboration with two other people, developing an odds comparison platform for sports betting. Our goal is to contribute to a more conscious player by presenting the best available sports odds on our platform, in combination with expert recommendations as well as user predictions and comments. The idea emerged when me and my friends realised that, in a jungle of bookmakers, no adequate odds comparison site existed, like it did for loans, insurances and consumer goods.

Who are you? Previous education/jobs/ experiences etc.

I am 20 years old currently studying Industrial Engineering and Management at LTH. I have a fairly extensive experience from web development in both front-end and back-end. During my high school years, I ran my own business as a web consultant which gave me the necessary experience for this project.

What will you do during these three months? How will you spend the time?

Extensive research and frequent product testing will be one the main focus areas apart from the actual programming. Our limited resources must only be spent on value adding activities to ensure some sort of efficiency. My primary duty will be on the programming while my two companions will handle the rest.

What do you expect to achieve during Leapfrogs?

Our main goal is to launch an Alpha version of the comparison platform by the end of August. If we can start to generate an increasing amount of visitors and cash flow during the fall it will help us to stay motivated and continuously incorporate new ideas into the platform.

Tell us what you have done on your project so far during the Leapfrogs time.

We have continued to develop the BetProphet web platform. The front end is nearly finished and the back end is also starting to come together. The B2B segment has been a success as well. Today, we have established business agreements with the majority of our potential clients. We have done extensive market research including testing with pre-alpha users. We have also developed a thorough and responsive marketing plan with different alternatives depending on the product’s attractiveness as we go live.

Has everything gone according to the plan? Has anything unexpected occurred? Has something been easier/harder than expected?

Everything has not gone as predicted. Gaining more market knowledge has led us to alter and tweak the product according to current demands. Our product development strategy has evolved into something bigger than just a discussion between three individuals. The most valuable information is the feedback from our early adaptors. We try to tailor every single detail on the platform based on the feedback we receive. We listen to our users, whether it is a question about major key features or simple things as concerns about button design.

What will you focus on during the remaining time? Will you follow your original plan or has anything changed along the way?

The primary focus is to set up a well working back end and finish the beta version this fall. In addition to pure web development, we currently focus heavily on our go-to-market strategy. We continuously strive to find the best way to reach our target users in the most effective way as possible. As the launch day is approaching we try to predict every possible scenario and outcome in order to be well prepared for the market’s reaction.
