Ebba Garnell - Hyperlink #1

Describe the idea:

Hyprlink is a new and genuine approach for companies to work with influencer marketing. Through a visually optimised contentbox we distribute five companies’ products to micro-influencers who then themselves choose what, when and how to publish the products they have received. This way we create a win-win situation where we help micro-influencers with content while at the same time create an opportunity for companies to receive earned visibility in social media.

Who are you? Previous education/jobs/ experiences etc.

My name is Ebba Garnell. I’m a 22 year old who just finished my Bachelor’s degree in in Strategic Communications. Therefore, it’s not a coincidence that you find me working on a marketing project. During my Bachelor’s I worked part time as a communications assistant at Bosch Rexroth and Region Skåne. Right now, I am as well as being responsible for our community of influencers within Hyprlink working as a content writer in Malta.

What will you do during these three months? How will you spend the time?

In the beginning of June, we sent out a test box to 26 micro-influencers with products from five different companies. Now we are working on collecting data and analyzing the. So far, we have gotten great results. After analysing the data, we will discuss it with our partners as well as use it to convert new companies. The plan is to send out a second box in the end of August.

What do you expect to achieve during Leapfrogs?

During these three months with Leapfrogs, we hope to have data to support our idea as well as have a second contentbox out to a larger number of micro-influencers. Along the way we hope to gether knowledge, ideas and inspiration that will help us optimize the concept. We go into this summer with great excitement!

Tell us what you have done on your projects so far during the Leapfrogs time:

The main focus in the project Hyprlink has so far this summer been to collect data from the first content box that went out to our Hyprs in June. That for us means keeping track of Instagram stories and posts being published by our Hyprs containing either our brand, Hyprlink, or products from and mentions of our partners. In addition to that, we have been working on content marketing as well as made it possible for our Hyprs to create profiles on our website.

Has everything gone according to the plan? Has anything unexpected occurred? Has something been easier/harder than expected?

So far, we are following the plan that we had! The plan for the summer was to evaluate the outcome of the first content box, which is what we are doing right now. Collecting and analyzing stories and posts is giving us an insight in whether or not the idea is working out as planned or if we need to do any moderations to the concept. The response so far has been great, but we can also see possible changes that could be made to make it even better.

What will you focus on during the remaining time? Will you follow your original plan or has anything changed along the way?

The next step is to summarize the outcome of the first content box and sending these compilations to our partners. We will continue to work on the website, implementing different functions, continue to add fun and valuable content and adding a page dedicated to get the interest up from possible partners that visit the website. Thirdly, we are going to start working on getting partners for our second box that we hope to send out in September.

How did you experience the three months?

The three months with Leapfrogs were inspiring and motivating. It was great to talk to other aspiring entrepreneurs with interesting ideas, that way we could learn from mistakes and successes that others had made when working with their projects.

What has been hardest/most enjoyable?

The hardest part was keeping the productivity on an expected level. When you are dependent on communicating with other companies, vacation time in Sweden has a large effect. It slows down the process as people are out of office and the waiting time for replies to emails becomes longer. Ideas travel fast, people move slowly. The most enjoyable part of three Leapfrog-months was that we developed the business idea further. We got to the test the original version and could therefore focus on optimising the idea even more.

Did it go as expected? Will you continue working on your project in the future?

It went surprisingly according to plan. No unexpected obstacles, everything went very smoothly. The outcome of the test-run of the business idea went better then expected and we will therefore continue to work on the project. We keep developing and optimising the business as we keep upscaling.

What would you say is the most important lesson learnt while working on your project?

Marketing is one of the most vital and valuable key stones in a business as well as sales. If you are missing one of these competencies within your team, you need to find another team member who can develop this part of the business.

Do you have any tips to other ”new” entrepreneurs?

Do your research. Especially your market research. When you come up with an idea, start by looking for companies who are active within the same area to find whether your product is needed or not. If there isn’t a need for your product, you don’t need to waste your time working on it. Find another idea!
