Describe the idea!
This is a sustainability and waste reduction challenge event from our Junior Consultancy, Triple S. It aims at bringing communities and businesses together in understanding better sustainability and solving the issue of solid waste. Before the event, businesses take part of lectures around sustainability and workshops that will help them reducing their waste. After the workshops, businesses have to apply what they have learn into their strategy and operations so that during the event they can showcase their improvements in solid reduction. For the community, during the event, there are also free workshops and fun relevant games for adults and children to take part.

Who are you?
We are Triple S, a Junior Consultancy in Sustainability created during our Master in Leadership for Sustainability Master in Malmo. Personally, as one of the co-founders, I am Catarina, a 22 years old woman from Lisbon, with business background. Since a very young age I have been managing departments in NGO’s, related to project management and fundraising and I have been also recently involved in Education for Sustainable Development by connecting sustainability master students with high school students.

What will you do during these three months? How will you spend the time?
In the next 3 months we will be researching and preparing lectures material related to subjects around sustainability and the importance for its integration in businesses. We also aim at contacting potential business partners. We will be also developing the structure of the team and team members participating in n the project. Additionally, to overcome the fact that we are not local, we will invest out time going to network events. Finally, a part of our time will be used to develop Triple S as an organization and brand, so that we build greater credibility when talking to potential businesses.

What do you expect to achieve during Leapfrogs?
With the above mentioned activities we will be able to start understanding Swedish companies and where they are in sustainability, as well as mapping potential business and mentor partners. At the same time, we hope to have delivered already some lectures to companies, so that we have a pilot study to learn from and start improving from there.

Blog post #2

Tell us what you have done on your project so far during the Leapfrogs time.

Like stated in the previous blog post, we have been researching and preparing lectures materials for companies around integration of sustainability in companies. Additionally we have been contacting people in the area. We have met for example with a sustainability communicator in the sector of waste management that offered her in event communication. With this and the network events we have been attending we have learned more about how waste is treated and how businesses networks work in Sweden.

Has everything gone according to the plan? Has anything unexpected occurred? Has something been easier/harder than expected?

We thought it would be harder to network with people, it’s easier than in our home countries. In the other hand it has been harder to keep focus because the life plans of most of us for after the summer have changed and because at the same time we are working to grow our Junior Consultancy. Anyway, we are still committed to the plan we have set even if it means someone else from the consultancy will take it after August.

What will you focus on during the remaining time? Will you follow your original plan or has anything changed along the way?

In the next weeks we will do a deeper market research with restaurants to see how they are managing their waste and to spot opportunities for improvement. In the end we think this is the business area that can profit the most from this event as they produce more waste, food waste in this case.  We also want to keep in contact with the person working with the waste management company to see if there is a possibility of a partnership.
