Ebba Schollin - GRL PWR Production #1
Describe yourself and your project. How did you get the idea?
I love to see my ideas turn into reality and at the same time accomplish something for one other. When I looked around I saw how girls feel worse and worse, they are insecure and super affected of todays community. Together with my best friend, we decided to do create activities to prevent mental illness, focusing on the positive things in life, which turned out to be GRL PWR Production. We will offer different activities and camps focusing on wellness and bringing people together. We will build bridges, not walls!
Who are you? Previous education/jobs/ experiences etc.
For the last two years I’ve studied business administration at LUSEM, in order to increase my knowledge and interest in business and entreprenurship. In addition to that I’ve travelled the world, working in the French Alpes, discovered different cultures and people. My heart beats for girls and I’m very excited to see what I can contribute with as a social entrepreneur.
What will you do during these three months? How will you spend the time?
We will plan, organize, launch, market and accomplish our first activities, a-week-long boost camp for girls born 2002 and 2003, in the area of Helsingborg. After our GRL PWR boost camp in July we will look on the opportunities to expand our idea, doing different kind of events, focusing on different target groups. In addition to that we want to expand GRL PWR Prodcuction on digital medias, creating a creative, inspiring and boosting online community.
What do you expect to achieve during Leapfrogs?
I want to achieve some great knowledge in pitching and other entrepreneurial skills. Get the courage to venture myself to run a business and don’t be afraid to fail. Furthermore I hope that I get to meat inspiring people increasing my social network and entrepreneurial mind. For the sake of our project I hope that we will accomplish a great outcome of our boost camp, making a difference for all the participants.

Tell us what you have done on your project so far during the Leapfrogs time.
We’ve just completed our main goal for the summer! Hosting a summer boost camp for girls between 14-15 years old in Helsingborg. It would be fair to call it a success! Both the participants and us were beyond pleased with the outcome and 100 % wanted to do it again and 100 % would recommend it to a friend. Both Charlotte and I are overwhelmed by the positive response we’ve received!
Has everything gone according to the plan? Has anything unexpected occurred? Has something been easier/harder than expected?
Most things went like we were hoping and planning for. However we weren’t prepared for all the girls opening up for us sharing their inner feelings and thoughts. Until next time we want to get more knowledge how to handling those things. Except from that the whole week was a very positive experience and we got a lot of great attention from different medias. For example, we was shown in SVT Sydnytt, first page of HD along with recording a podcast about people working for Helsingborg’s development in different ways.
What will you focus on during the remaining time? Will you follow your original plan or has anything changed along the way?
During the remaining time we want to develop our webpage, pitch and talk about the results from the week together with Helsingborg Stad. We want to explore in what direction we want to take our activities in order to make them more economically sustainable. We want to do something bigger about this whole project, our 31 one participants during the week is the prof that this really is an important subject. However we are aware of the cost of doing this again would be another, not relaying on people working non-profit.

How did you experience the three months?
Best summer job ever! I feel like I’ve find my way of living and meeting equals with different ideas have been very thoughtful. We really had the chance to develop a project from start and being able to see the finishing product must have been the best feeling ever. The leapfrog project has been crucial for our entrepreneurial ride and I would recommend everyone to take the chance of being a “leapfroger”!
What has been hardest/most enjoyable?
For our project, the most crucial part has been making sure we got people to participate on our camp. Luckily, this turned out better than expected and we ended up with a queue of girls who wanted to participate. Furthermore the financial part has been both ways, easy and hard. The acceptance of founding our project were pretty easy even though we hade quite a struggle transferring the acceptance of founding to a real transfer. I took quite a while and during the meantime we had to finance the project on our own.
Did it go as expected? Will you continue working on your project in the future?
The GRL PWR Boost Camp turned out over our expectations. The responses have been overwhelming from investors, participants, parents, media etc. There is a big need to increase the well being for girls around the world, starting just where you at. We will keep developing our organization, making sure we can do life, even if its just a little bit, better for girls around us.
What would you say is the most important lesson learnt while working on your project?
There is always a way to solve a problem. It may not be the first plan, or the second one but there is always a solution. Being creative and thinking outside the box have been crucial for GRL PWR Production and I think that’s one of the main reasons the camp turned out so good as it actually did. Also, respect and cherish your team member. If you have a good team, the sky is the limit!
Do you have any tips to other ”new” entrepreneurs?
Be bold! If you have a idea- try it! Step outside your comfort zone and amazing things will happen. Good luck and do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions of being a leapfroger or about our project.
