Describe yourself and your project. How did you get the idea? 

Mine and Frida’s project is to bring a new product to the market. The product is a bracelet which are to be used during intravenous treatments, like dialysis. The bracelet will replace tape and fixate the tubes used during treatment, to prevent the needle in the arm from moving. The problem our product is solving is well-know and was introduce to us by Gambro during a course in ergonomics, where the bracelet was initially developed.


Who are you? Previous education/jobs/ experiences etc.

Soon to be MSc graduate at LTH in mechanical engineering with industrial design. I’m a person who wants to develop products that make a difference. I have earlier worked with administration, both at a health care centre and a bank and as a supervisor for a sports arena. I love watching movies and have had a long volleyball “career”, including an U21 SM gold – Go EVS!


What will you do during these three months? How will you spend the time? 

We will spend the majority of the time at our “office” at VentureLab. We will talk to manufactures and get quotations. We will investigate how to protect our product in the best way. Make product sheets, a webpage and do marketing. We will try to approach and make contact with some bigger companies within the health care and revise our business plan. We also need to find out a good name for the company.


What do you expect to achieve during Leapfrogs?

We expect to have gotten quotations so that final choices regarding manufacturing can be made. In the end of the summer we expect to have a webpage, a product sheet and a protected product.  We will be in contact with potential customer and have an improved business plan. We will also hopefully have come up with a kick ass name for company!

Tell us what you have done on your project so far during the Leapfrogs time.

During the Leapfrog time we have so far been able to get a quotation from a company in Hong Kong regarding tooling and manufacturing of one part of the bracelet and are waiting for another one.  We have also looked at company names and logos and also at potential customers. We have booked a meeting with the former CEO of Vigmed to discuss our product.


Has everything gone according to the plan? Has anything unexpected occurred? Has something been easier/harder than expected? 

It’s been hard to get quotations from Swedish companies that want to manufacture our product. Many have turned us down, mainly because we are new on the market. However we are waiting for one to get back to us with a quotation. Getting a quotation from China was on the other hand no problem at all.

It has also been hard to come up with a company name that is not already taken or that sounds and look good. Making a logo was probably even harder.


What will you focus on during the remaining time? Will you follow your original plan or has anything changed along the way?  

During the Leapfrog time we will focus on IP-rights, to finding a protection that suits our product and future plan for it. We will also focus on finding and contacting health care companies that can sell our product to e.g hospital units and branding.

Looking at current situation the original plan will be followed without changes. Depending on how things will look later on, the plan may be revised.

How did you experience the three months?

The three months have been quite calm, probably due to everyone else’s vacation, which also contributed to making it harder to get in contact with people.

The time has passed by fast, yet plenty of stuff have been done. It´s been really nice to have been able to focus on our work and not have to worry about not earning money during that time.


What has been hardest/most enjoyable

The hardest part was to get in contact with people. Things that depends on an answer tended to be put on ice for a couple of weeks and elongate a process that could have been completed faster.

Most enjoyable was to know that you could spend your time on your project during the whole summer and at the same time knowing that you wouldn’t have to worry about not having a “proper” summer job or such.


Did it go as expected? Will you continue working on your project in the future?

We may not have completed all the tasks that we set up to do, but we have at least started on most of them and come quite far.

We will continue the work and aim for a product to be manufactured in the beginning of next year. From there we will evaluated the situation about the future.


What would you say is the most important lesson learnt while working on your project?

It’s really hard to say what the most important lesson is. Maybe to accept that you don’t know, and cannot know everything, at least from the start, so you shouldn’t be intimidated to ask for help.


Do you have any tips to other ”new” entrepreneurs?

Be forward yet humble and believe in your product/business, so you can be able to convince others that your idea is the best.
